Course Overview

This course prepares graduates to thrive in a fast-evolving media landscape by developing the creative, technical, and professional know-how needed to innovate, collaborate, and lead across diverse creative industries. Our curriculum design reflects the breadth of creative and digital innovation within a contemporary media context.

The course consists of modules such as visual design, interactivity, theory, audio visual (including photography) and professional development.
This course places a strong emphasis on creativity, collaboration, design and innovation, and developing students’ practical skills to a high standard. Students are also encouraged to develop the theoretical skills necessary to critically analyse key media issues, both in terms of its technological manifestation and its social impact.

What makes this course different
Industry Experience
In Year 3 students can spend 6 weeks in industry where they gain important contacts within the industry to help them in their future careers.
Individual Major Project

Students are also offered the opportunity to showcase their creative ideas and skills to the public and prospective employers with their final-year project exhibited at the annual end-of-year Creative Media Degree Show, the Fís Graduate Showcase.

Great Employment Opportunities
100% of graduates are in employment or further study after 6 months of graduating. 86% of graduates are in a permanent contract after 6 months of graduating.

Creative Media encompasses a wide range of skillsets across many key creative fields – audio, film, web, interactivity and design. Creative media professionals can contribute and collaborate in any creative team environment to create successful and impactful multimedia projects. It is all about sharing information with others in a unique, effective way, be it with an article, podcast, photograph, graphic, animation, or video.

Course Delivery and Modules
This course provides a practice-based and research-informed learning environment where students explore the intersections of design, storytelling, and emerging technology.

Through studio-based and collaborative projects, they will develop skills in digital content creation, UX/UI design, video/audio production and creative applications of AI and extended reality (XR), while engaging thoughtfully with the ethical and social dimensions of contemporary media.
